One project I’m working on right now will end up being about Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher, the works of MC Escher, and quantum physics. To start, I’m going to be looking at Escher’s works.
I’m a theatrical lighting designer. Something that really pops out at me when I look at Escher’s work is his immense amount of detail where shadowing is concerned; it is incredibly smooth and realistic, which really helps his illusions. When I find myself trying to analyze exactly why it is my brain can flip the images in multiple ways, it always comes back to the intricacies of the shadowing.
